KharchaBook is a personal finance tracking application developed by Kreative Minds. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
When you create an account, we may collect the following personal information:
Required: Full name, email address.
Optional: Phone number, city, and country. These are collected to improve your experience and may be used for account functionality such as currency auto-detection and regional preferences.
Financial data: Your income and expense transactions, amounts, categories, dates, and notes. This data is stored locally on your device using browser IndexedDB storage and is never automatically transmitted to our servers.
Your personal information (name, email, phone, city, country) is used solely for:
Account creation and identification on your device. Sending you KharchaBook updates, product news, or promotional emails — only if you have explicitly opted in. Currency and regional settings personalisation.
KharchaBook does not sell, rent, share, or disclose your personal information or financial transaction data to any third party, except where required by law.
All financial transaction data — including your income records, expense entries, categories, amounts, and notes — remains strictly private to you. This data is stored locally on your device and is not accessible to KharchaBook or Kreative Minds unless you explicitly choose to export or sync it.
If you use cloud sync features (when available in future versions), your data will be encrypted in transit and at rest. You will always retain full ownership of your financial data.
4.1 Explicit consent required. The AI analysis feature is entirely opt-in. Before any data is sent to an AI provider, KharchaBook displays a clear consent screen showing exactly what will and will not be shared. You must actively tick a checkbox to confirm your consent. You can revoke consent at any time from Settings → AI Financial Advisor.
4.2 What IS sent to the AI (aggregated statistics only):
Total income and expense amounts (all-time and monthly averages). Savings rate (percentage). Top spending categories by name and aggregate amount. Income source categories and aggregate amounts. Country (for regional financial context — e.g. "Pakistan" or "UAE"). Total number of transactions analysed.
4.3 What is NEVER sent to the AI:
Your name, email address, phone number, or any account identifier. Individual transaction amounts, dates, or descriptions. Transaction notes or comments. Your city or any sub-national location. Any device identifiers or session data.
4.4 API key and provider. The AI feature uses your own API key (Google Gemini or OpenAI), which you provide in Settings. This key is stored only on your device in IndexedDB. It is never transmitted to KharchaBook or Kreative Minds servers. The AI provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle the data received from API requests. KharchaBook does not log, store, or analyse these calls.
4.5 AI suggestions are not financial advice. All AI-generated suggestions are based on general financial patterns applied to your aggregated statistics. They are for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute professional financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Always consult a qualified professional for personalised financial guidance.
Your email address may be used to send you:
Transactional emails related to your KharchaBook account. Product updates, new features, or promotional content — only if you have opted in.
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.
Your data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB storage. This data persists on your device as long as you do not clear your browser data or uninstall the app. We recommend using the built-in backup (JSON export) feature periodically to keep a safe copy of your records.
When cloud storage is available in future versions, user records will be retained for a minimum of 365 days after your last active session.
KharchaBook does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. The app may use browser local storage only for saving your theme preference and settings.
KharchaBook is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can delete all data from within the app using Settings → Clear All Data. For requests related to cloud-stored data (when available), contact us at the address below.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on our website. Continued use of KharchaBook after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
